The Seattle VR Hackathon is back!
Come join us for a weekend of creativity, innovation, and learning! The VR Hackathon is an opportunity to learn about Virtual Reality and other immersive technologies, to meet new people, and to get hands-on experience with VR design and development.
The VR hackathon isn’t just about technology, however – it’s about design, creation, and problem solving. If you have interest in art, graphics, 3D modelling, film, education, sound design, game design, or business, the VR hackathon will be an event you’ll enjoy.

All that is required for you to participate is for you to sign up and come along.
Requirements
To submit a project for consideration, fill out the form onsite at the hackathon. Submission to DevPost is strongly encouraged, but not required.
Material submitted to DevPost may be used by judges in their consideration of a project.
Prizes
Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief
Awarded to the project that offers the best, most interesting, and most compelling solution to a problem related to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief within one of the scenarios described during opening ceremonies at the hackathon. Of specific interest are solutions that address medium to long-term needs to support the re-development of communications/coordination across civil society, political, and private sectors.
Physical Interaction in Virtual Environments
Awarded to the project that offers the best example of a physical user interface within a virtual environment. A physical interface is defined as an interface that allows users to interact with objects in the virtual environment by interacting with physical objects in the real world. Of particular interest are interfaces that go beyond existing control devices, such as the Vive Controller. Consideration will be given to inventiveness, technical challenge, variety, and usability of the interface.
Best Storytelling
Awarded to the team whose project, in the eyes of the judges, offers the best example of story-telling. The nature, style, characterization, and use of story will be considered alongside any other narrative elements of the project.
Best Use of Sound
Awarded to the team whose project, in the eyes of the judges, offers the best example of sound design. This may include sound effects, voice acting, music, or any other audio component of the project.
Best Visual Design
Awarded to the team whose project, in the eyes of the judges, offers the best example of visual design. This may include 2D art, 3D modeling, lighting and visual atmosphere, or any other visual component of the project.
Best Technical Achievement
Awarded to the team who, in the eyes of the judges, made the most impressive technical achievement in their project.
This may include solving a complex technical problem, utilizing a particularly challenging technique, or demonstrating overall technical excellence throughout their project.
Community Choice
The Community Choice Prize will be awarded based on votes cast by all hackathon attendees.
Attendees will have the opportunity to try each other's demos during the Sunday Expo and throughout the rest of the event.
In the event of a tie, this prize will be split.

To enter, purchase a ticket for the event on Eventbrite, and come join us for the weekend. Form teams Friday night, hack through the weekend, and enter your project for prizes Sunday morning.

Judging criteria
All judging is based on the subjective opinions of the judging panel, within the general guidelines set out for each prize category. Prizes are awarded at the discretion of the Hackathon Organizers.
